Black Bear, Moose or Bird hunting for Woodcock or Grouse, we have it here. If you
are arriving with a non-hunting partner, there are other activities including
horseshoes, croquet, tubing, birdwatching and hiking. For the golfers,
the 18 hole Miramichi Golf and Country Club is only a short distance from the lodge (non
members welcome. green fees applicable). Of course, we are located directly on
the World-Famous Miramichi River, renown for Atlantic Salmon fishing, so that is
always an alternative.
The Owners
Dale Norton
(center) has been on the Miramichi river all of his life. One of his
favorite past-times is paddling his "Old Town" canoe for relaxation.
He loves spending time on the river where he can take in all the
sights and sounds it has to offer. Dale enjoys sharing his love of
the outdoors and the river with all his guests at the Oxbow. Should an
idle moment present itself, he enjoys kicking back on the veranda
with a book to catch a special moment as the river meanders past his
doorstep.
Debbie and Dale
are fortunate to have a second generation "riverman" as their Camp
Manager. Brett Silliker has been guiding for 18 years having
attained the skills from his uncle Guy Silliker (also written about
in Curtis' River Guides of the Miramichi). Brett is a strict
conservationist and has taught his outdoor skills to anglers and hunters
from around the world. He has managed the camp for the past 14 years
and has earned the respect of many of the other "rivermen" for his
skills and expertise. Return clients often ask specifically for his
services.
